American Girl Garden Tour with Albany Kid & Albany Aqua Ducks!

Last week a group of moms and daughters and fans of Albany Kid Family Travel and SaratogaMama enjoyed our American Girl Garden Tour with the Albany Aqua Ducks! We all met in downtown Albany, NY to meet our trolley and tour guide. Althought the Albany Aqua Ducks also run an amphibious tour, we decided on the trolley tour.

Our guide was Albany Aqua Duck’s Maeve McEneny and she did a fabulous job keeping us all entertained with stories and historical tidbits. She knew a lot about each American Girl doll and tailored the tour and information based on what dolls were on board our trolley.

Due to the weather, we opted out of the garden tour at Washington Park. Our trolley toured downtown Albany and then we arrived at Ten Broeck Mansion. Walking through the grounds of the mansion which were stunning, even on an overcast day provided some good photo opportunities. Wendy Burch, Executive Director of the Albany County Historical Association greeted us there and and gave us the grand tour of the mansion.

The Ten Broeck Mansion was built in 1797 for General Abraham Ten Broeck and his wife, Elizabeth Van Rensselaer, after a fire destroyed their Albany home. The house has been extremely well-maintained and provided a unique glimpse of life in the mid 19th century; interesting for both mothers and daughters.

After a tour of the mansion, we all gathered in the formal dining room for a tea party. The girls and moms enjoyed pink lemonade and an assortment of cookies while the dolls watched

We lingered and chatted then boarded our trolley for a short trip back to Quackenbush Square. This tour lasted a little over an hour, but Albany Aqua Ducks tours vary in length and are all completely unique.

We learned, we laughed, took a trolley ride, had a tea party, visited a mansion, and made wonderful memories with our girls and their beloved dolls.
