All About: West Wind Acres CSA + Giveaway

west Wind Acres generalWest Wind Acres is farm located in West Charlton, just a bit outside Saratoga.  They specialize in superior pasture-raised meat farmed via fresh clean pastures, rotational grazing, and non-GMO grains (for pigs and chickens) and 100% grass for sheep and cattle. I’ve toured the farm and found it to be an extremely well-run operation with animals freely roaming 100+ picturesque acres.

In addition to being really great people (and parents), owners Joshua and Stefanie Rockwood have developed some of the best and most effective methods of farming.  They also have a completely “open door” policy and believe everyone has the right to know where their food comes from and how it is raised.

I can say from experience that if you take a tour of the farm, you will be truly impressed and feel very comfortable buying any of their meats or joining their CSA.

Why Pasture Raised?

West Wind Acres CowsPasture raised meats just taste better.  They are healthier for you and your family.  No hormones, no antibiotics, nothing that nature has not intended for their stomachs are ever given to the animals.

“Our goal is to provide family, friends, and the region with an option for healthier food. Our products will be raised humanely, and in a manner that is close to how they would grow and flourish naturally.”

  1. After finding out my daughter is allergic to bovine growth hormone, we have been utilizing organic meats in our home. We would love to try a farm that is so close!

  2. If I could I would chase the cow around the pasture with a fork and knife… but since I can’t do that because that would be mean, this is closest to living that dream I will ever get. Plus there is just something more tasty about eating happy cows. Maybe they will pass their happiness on to me! #meatatarian #happycowshappylindsey

  3. As a person who’s spent years farming when I lived in Pennsylvania I appreciate and enjoy pastured meat and fresh eggs. I would like to win for three reasons:
    1) I appreciate the hard work of farmers and think it’s important to support them
    2) I like to know where my food is coming from so I LOVE that West Wind has ‘open door’ policy
    3) All the health benefits!

  4. I’m part way through a third consecutive Whole30 and have discovered just how superior local grass fed and pasture fed products are. I would love to win to be able to continue educating my family on how much tastier and healthier this option is!

We’ve been researching and looking at all the different optioned for local farms. It would be nice to try the meat from Wild West Acres. Thank you for the opportunity!

  9. I am a 34 year mom of the cutest little boy. I recently completed chemotherapy and radiation for Hodgkins Lymphoma. Knowing where my food comes from has never been so important to me for myself but also for my growing son.

  10. How funny…my family and I were just discussing this topic. We love to shop local. Knowing where your food comes from is so important.
