As my bathroom cabinets and drawers begin to fill up with samples of the latest and greatest beauty products, I have been considering canceling my subscription to BirchBox. But as many of you know as the weather warms up and the school year draws to a close our to do lists grow longer and I have not yet checked this one off. However when this months box arrived I was happy I had yet to cancel. This months box contained a nice variety of new products perfect for the spring and summer.
CoTZ, Face Natural Skin Tone SPF 40, Full – size, $20
This oil–free, mineral sunscreen has a nice, light feel as opposed to other sunscreens. It blends into a sheer matte finish instead of leaving your skin shiny the way heavier versions can. I also like the fact that the SPF is 40 since many of these mineral version sunscreens for the face contain a lower SPF. Without the use of harsh chemicals this sunscreen not only protects your face from the harmful effects of the sun but also helps fight fine lines and wrinkles.
I was very excited when Marshall’s started carrying the Cynthia Rowley line of clothing, I find myself drawn to her classic, yet chic, with a touch of trendy style. Now the New York City-based designer transfers this style to her make-up line. Offering consumers luxury makeup for a reasonable price. Black eyeliner tends to scare me but this one blended nicely to a softer gray with the swipe of a Q-tip. These eyeliners are vegan free, cruelty free, and paraben free, making this eyeliner perfect for my sensitive eyes.
Nexxus, Color Assure pre-wash primer, shampoo, conditioner, Full-size, $11.99 to $17.99
There are many shampoos and conditioners out there that are great for color treated hair, but one unique item this line offers is the pre-wash primer, an oil infused treatment meant to smooth hair and repel water helping to make haircolor last twice as long. During the summer our hair faces many harsh conditions including the sun, saltwater, and chlorine. I am excited to try this product and see if it will keep my hair color shiny and vibrant throughout the season.
In Hebrew, Noya means “divine beauty”. A beautiful name for a beautiful product; this lip gloss deliverers a lovely sheer tint while providing nourishing moisture without the sticky mess that sometimes comes along with lip gloss. Containing all-natural and kosher ingredients, this product leaves your lips shiny and smooth and helps combat dry, flaky skin. *This soft sheer color pairs perfectly with the more dramatic eye created using the Cynthia Rowley eyeliner.
Final verdict on the May Birchbox:
This box has inspired me to set a date night with my husband. I’m thinking beachy waves (which are sure to shine after using the Nexxus line), smooth, matte skin (created by using CoTZ natural skin tone), with a dark smoky eye (thanks to Cynthia Rowley’s eyeliner) and a soft pale lip with a pretty sheen (sure to stay kissable all night long thanks to Noya Beauty Lip Gloss in Summertime Peach).
