Description

Come celebrate Black History Month at the National Museum of Dance. The celebration of Black History month is only complete by recognizing those individuals who used the arts to express their thoughts and feelings during the Civil Rights Movement. During turbulent times the arts became a sanctuary and symbol of the movement. Our event celebrates the influence and expression of those who contributed to the arts and culture during this time.
Featuring: Mary Nell Morgan, inspirational speaker & Professor of Cultural Studies, Historical Studies, and Social Theory at SUNY Empire State College; Garland Nelson, Lead Vocals of Soul Session, and Musical Director ofQuiet Storm Gospel Choir; and refreshments donated by Christel and Colin MacLean, owners of Circus Cafe and Sperry's.
