Mama Musings: Why I support To Love A Child

I serve as president of the board of a local non-profit organization called To Love A Child.  You might have learned about To Love A Child and specifically our maternal health program at last April’s Saratoga Baby Expo. Many of you donated your gently used baby gear, and if you scroll down, I’ve included some of the pictures of families receiving those donations!

To Love A Child is near to my heart because its mission is to serve underprivileged and impoverished families primarily in Haiti and Zimbabwe.  We achieve this mission through a variety of carefully thought-out programs, and with the help of amazing on-location project managers.

From installing solar panels, to maternal healthcare initiatives, providing educational opportunities, funding micro-loan projects, clean water initiatives, and so much more.  To Love A Child provides hope to families around the world.

Being on the board of To Love A Child is an honor because I’m serving alongside people who care deeply about families here, and across the globe.  My family is half Haitian, my husband was born there, so to be able to play a small part in helping out is fulfilling.

If you’d like to learn more about To Love A Child, visit our website, and please consider attending our annual dinner next Thursday, October 25th, Rock Out for Hope!  It’s going to be at the new Hilton Garden Inn at Clifton Park Center.  The night will include fabulous food, awesome silent auction items, music, dancing, and an opportunity to learn more about what To Love A Child is all about.

Thanks to all who donated gear last April at the Saratoga Baby Expo.  The expo is returning on April 6th, 2013 and we’ll be collecting more gear there!  Here are some pictures of families we serve in Haiti receiving your donations.

These cribs were donated by Maple Leaf Childcare Center!

How can you help To Love A Child?

Thanks in advance for your support!  I hope to see some of you next Thursday at our annual dinner, 6pm at Hilton Garden Inn in Clifton Park.
