2018 Holiday Shoplist A to Z: Saratoga Area Merchants + Makers
Welcome to holiday shopping season my friends! This year we wanted to do something a little different here is your 2018 Holiday Shopping Guide from A – Z including tons of Saratoga stores, merchants, and makers.
A – Arts and Crafts
Book yourself (and your recipient!) an arts workshop with Craft Lively this winter and you’ll get a gift that keeps giving. I still adore the wooden “Joy” sign that I made during a Craft Lively workshop. Fun, functional, and festive.
B – Books
Of course head to Northshire, always our top pick in the area with an entire floor dedicated to kids. Also check out A Saratoga Springs Children’s Book by Danielle Searles a colorful look at Saratoga Springs through the eyes of a child.
C – Cookies, cupcakes, and baked goods galore!
Two Birds Marketplace, a brand new bakery/market in Ballston Spa is our top pick. If you love Iron Roost in BSpa, you will adore Two Birds Marketplace since they are sister businesses.
D – Doll Carriers
We love One Little Giggle, not only for their awesome made to order doll baby carriers but for their full range of cloth wipes, towels, mats, teething and baby toys and other accessories. If you were at The Petite Retreat, you surely saw Kim at the colorful One Little Giggle booth!
E – Essential Oils
Essential oils make a beautiful gift for a mama-to-be, teachers, bestie, or that family member that needs to chill the heck out! Visit my oils page here or email me and I’ll help you pick the perfect present!
F – Foodie Gifts
Healthy Living Market is an amazing resource for unique and special food items. Grab an inexpensive basket at TJ Maxx across the street, then fill it up with goodness from Healthy Living! Your recipient will thank you.
G – Gift card holders
Turn your gift card into something really special! Check out Simply Sarah Elyse; a shop run by a local teacher who makes amazing handmade paper products. Make that gift card more personal with a unique gift card holder!
H – Housewares
I’m always inspired by the gorgeous displays at Silverwood in Saratoga. Find a unique selection of home decor, furniture, fine art, and accessories for just about everyone on your list!
I – Infants
This category is really all about the parents because babies don’t know what they need! Check out ExtendHer for the ultimate baby wearing accessories including their jacket extender to keep you and baby warm and toasty all winter long.
J – Jewelry
Lola Accessory Boutique in Saratoga always comes through with the perfect pair of stud earrings, designer handbag, or on-trend accessory. Shop even smaller with Razimus Jewelry – my fave for gorgeous + unique handmade jewelry.
K – Kitchen Essentials
L – Labels
Still my all-time favorite labels for clothes, skis, kids items, backpacks, and just about anything is Name Bubbles!
M – Meal Delivery
Home meal delivery form 9 Miles East is an excellent choice for that hard-to-buy-for person on your list. Have a fresh meal (or many!) delivered straight to their door. Farm to front door!
N – Notecards
O – Outdoor Gear
We love the Mountainman Outdoor Supply Co. on broadway in Saratoga Springs. Their staff is super helpful and their selection can’t be beat!
P – Pet Portraits
Run and see Gretchen at Feathered Antler and have her paint you a lovely picture of your beloved pet! She’s amazing and while you’re there, good luck not falling in love with her other unique one-of-a-kind jewelry, prints, or accessories.
Q – Quirky Gifts
For the absolute best in quirky and funny gifts, check out Veronica Dearly. Her quirky and dry sense of humor and creative use of select cuss words will have you laughing out loud!
R – Relaxation.
The gift of relaxation is likely high on any mama’s wish list. Pick your favorite area spa for a massage or facial gift certificate. For on-the-go relaxation, Young Living’s stress away roller an excellent choice. Rub this on the back of your neck, inside of your wrists. It is a really calming and soothing scent.
S – Soap & Skincare
RAD soap is an awesome local company that we’ve featured before but is worth mentioning again! Their new store in Stuyvesant Plaza in Albany is a mecca for bath and body care and the staff is always helpful with recommendations. Another local favorite is Petal + Hive. Their cuticle cream is a must-have winter item.
T – Toys!
U – Undergarments
I know, not the first thought when you think ‘holidays’ but Chic Underneath is a fabulous + local shop for the best undergarments, PJ sets, or simply a gift certificate for waxing!
V – Video Games
I’m a big ‘screen free’ advocate but I realize that video games and accessories are on the wishlist of many boys and girls out there; my 10 year old son included. Check out Game Stop for their selection of pre-owned games and systems. Also we love shopping local at Comic Depot in Saratoga for board games, comics, pop toys, and other game-related fun.
W – Workout Gear
Pure Barre in Saratoga is the perfect place to find on-trend workout apparel from brands like Lululemon, Spiritual Gangster, Free People and many more. You can also pick up a class pack for yourself or your recipient if you want to burn off some of those extra holiday calories… I know I do!
X – Xperience
I know, experience starts with and E but do you have any other X ideas?? Didn’t think so! Experience gifts can include things like a weekend getaway, a voucher for an exotic out-of-area restaurant, museum passes, show tickets, passes to the indoor water park, classes at the Ninja Lab, etc.
Y – Yoga
Give the gift of health and wellness this year with yoga classes! Yoga Mandali is great for all levels and abilities and is a beautiful studio. Saha Yoga is a new-ish studio in Ballston Spa. Also check out Yoga with Bonnie for prenatal yoga in various locations!
Z – Zipline Tours
Head north to Adirondack Extreme or to Schenectady’s Mountain Ridge Adventure to experience zip lining! Buy passes for the holidays to redeem when the weather gets better. Both offer special deals through December.
